Audio descriptionAudio description 

An Audio Description service to enhance the experience of customers who are blind or have a vision-impairment is offered in the Drama Theatre and Opera Theatre for identified performances. In collaboration with Sydney Theatre Company and Opera Australia, and with the assistance of Vision Australia, this service is complimentary.

Audio description is a live commentary of the visual elements of a performance, by trained audio describers. Touch-tours before the production help to capture the atmosphere, costumes, characters and action before and during the course of a performance. Audio description is relayed via a discreet headset linked to the infrared audio system.

This service is offered with specially reduced ticket prices to encourage greater access.

Assistance animals

Guide dogs or any animals trained to assist people with disabilities are welcome inside all areas of Sydney Opera House.

To ensure appropriate seating is allocated please advise your requirements when booking.
