Utilise your school’s video conferencing facilities and take advantage of access to Sydney Opera House, its venues, people and professional artists...without having to leave your classroom.

From the comfort of your classroom, students from all NSW Public Schools will now be able to have the Sydney Opera House Experience – be it an educational tour, a live performance or a practical workshop. Please see the relevant tabs for activities appropriate for Primary students, Secondary students and Teachers.

DISCOVER THE HOUSE

Bring your students face-to-face with the iconic Sydney Opera House in this digital excursion and gain exclusive behind-the-scenes access to this incredible performing arts venue. Our roaming, interactive tour of ‘The House’ will bring to life the history and architecture of this significant Australian place and explore how it has become synonymous with Australia’s cultural identity.

Presented by an expert tour guide, students will discover fascinating historical and scientific facts and learn about the Indigenous history of Bennelong Point. There will be opportunities for interactive learning during this excursion, with plenty of time for open discussion with the presenter.

DISCOVER THE STAGE
This practical, interactive drama workshop presented by professional actors and drama educators from Monkey Baa Theatre for Young People, offers students the opportunity to experience being in the Sydney Opera House as a working actor.

Presented live from a Sydney Opera House stage, the workshop includes theatre etiquette, performance terminology and introduces the skills an actor uses to prepare for performance. Students will actively participate in performance activities including vocal warm-ups and practical drama tasks.

SECONDARY

ROMEO AND JULIET DIGITAL MASTERCLASS

Live from Sydney Opera House, Bell Shakespeare’s Resident Artist in Education, James Evans, will engage students with long distance storytelling in this educational workshop. Via video conferencing, students will develop scene work, participate in practical exercises and exchange ideas to bring the characters and language of Romeo and Juliet to life.

(UNLOCKING) THE TENDER AGE DIGITAL WORKSHOP

Join us live at Sydney Opera House via video conference for this unique opportunity for elective Drama students to gain insight into the creative development process. Using version 1.0 and Australian Theatre for Young People’s work-in-progress The Tender Age as stimulus, students will gain insight into the creative development process and participate in a forum to equip them with ideas to apply in their own devised work.

Sydney Opera House and Sydney Symphony Orchestra join forces to bring this 2-hour
professional development session into your interactive classroom via video conferencing.
This is your chance to learn from the experts without having to leave your school grounds.
