Sophie Bevan – The Golden Girl
It is always a great buzz to introduce a genuinely exciting talent to audiences for the first time, so it is with great pleasure that we welcome young English soprano Sophie Bevan to make her Australian debut.

Possessed of a dazzling voice, with looks and talent to match, Bevan is turning the heads of critics and audiences alike across Europe. She has already earned a reputation as a fearless performer, taking on repertoire ranging from Handel to the present day, and makes her Royal Opera House debut in 2012.
Sophie Bevan comes from a large musical family, and at thirteen was singing solos in her local choir. But despite approaches from record companies and agents, she has steadfastly resisted the temptation to become the next Hayley Westenra or Charlotte Church. This is an artist who loves music, loves opera and wants to be taken seriously. By all reports, she deserves to be.
Her program reflects this thoughtful approach. Enjoy the bewitching songs of Ravel, Debussy and Mozart, and look forward to the day when you can say, “I heard Sophie Bevan in recital when she first came to Sydney Opera House.”
Sophie will perform a selection of Mozart arias and French songs.
